Sometime in the spring of 2007, Mario’s school friend Sascha announced his engagement to Jemma – also from their school days together. They were planning to hold an engagement party at the Solomon Islands; birthplace of the bride. Would we be interested in attending? Hmm. Let us think about that…
Did we know where it was? No. Did it sound like somewhere we’d like to go? Very much so. We then discovered where the Solomons are, and realized that you’re practically on your way back to Norway if you go much further. It is very, very far away. Which meant that we really could not justify going to the other side of the planet just for a party – just think of the jetlag!
From there, it has evolved into the biggest holiday we’ve ever been on: two weeks in New Caledonia, one week on the Solomon Islands, and two weeks in Australia. Once again we see the truly excellent consequences of attending an international school, and thereby acquiring friends across the globe!
And this, of course, is our travel blog…
